Empowering Future Learners
Study4Life Holiday Program
These school holidays, give your child the tools to transition with confidence from primary to secondary school.
Our Study4Life program provides practical solutions to the challenges of a new classroom environment, a change of routine and new teaching practices. It is tailored to give children the confidence they need to thrive in self-directed learning environments and to make good decisions to drive their own secondary schooling experience.
What
The Seeds of Knowledge Study4Life program is for children in Year 5 to Year 7. We aim to enhance learning success through practical, hands-on understanding of essential study techniques that will support their future learning. As students move into high school, these skills will provide them with the tools they need to turn challenges into opportunities.
The Study4Life program provides an effective and individualised pathway to learning. This pathway includes a toolkit with a range of skills that students can use to take control of their own learning, including:
- Valuable organisation skills
- Practical time management processes
- Effective research and questioning skills
- Deep understanding of self as learner
These vital skills take the pressure off the high school transition by giving children a solid grasp of practical aspects of their learning, allowing them to focus on the specifics of their new environment and curriculum. They become empowered to take ownership of their education.
This program is a program for life. The skills they master as they transition into high school carry through as they mature, and will support them in any future learning endeavour. Imagine your child having the skills to be confident in their learning for the future!
How does the Seeds of Knowledge Study4Life program work?
Over the three days, children will be engaged in a fun, learning, hands-on project:
- Working in small, focused groups
- Learning through an inquiry-based project linked to children’s individual strengths and interests
- Explicitly taught the skills and process required for future learning
The program has been purposefully designed and includes individualised lessons and resources.
A daily email communication will be sent on the topics covered during the day.
Day 1 – Who am I as a learner? What are my strengths?
- Understanding what success looks like in learning
- Identify and deepen understanding of their unique learning styles
- Discovering practical, study strategies that align with their learning preference
Day 2 – Filling the Study Skill Toolkit
- Explicit teaching of research and questioning skills
- Organisational tools to enhance productivity and efficiency
- Application of time management processes
Day 3 – What makes you a successful learner?
- Demonstrating skills and knowledge of effective study skills
- Understanding the importance of applying effort and gaining motivation for learning
- In depth understanding to articulate the importance of study skills
This program is designed to provide a real-world connection to productive study habits, therefore the children may be required to complete some of the project at home. The aim is for the students to independently manage their time and practice their organisational skills.
