Growing Minds (Big learning, for little learners)
In Early Childhood the most important learning is helping children develop the confidence to try, make mistakes and keep going.
That is why we have created an interactive program designed to introduce young children to the language of learning and the foundations of a Growth Mindset in a fun and memorable way.
At the heart of the program is the concept of a Growth Mindset, brought to life through Growing Minds (Big learning, for little learners), a group of engaging puppet characters who guide children through key learning habits that help their brains grow.
Children will meet:
- Gus – Give it a go
- Remy – Remember, brains grow
- Olive – Own your mistakes
- Wally – Wonder and think
- Tom – Try again
- Holly – Happy to learn
Through these playful characters, children aged 3–5 will explore through using puppets, storytelling, movement and hands-on activities, how learning happens and discover that their brains grow when they keep trying in a fun and memorable way.
The program will help the children to develop important life skills like:
- persistence
- confidence
- resilience
- growth mindset, and
- positive attitudes to becoming lifelong learners.
Alignment to the Early Years Learning Framework
The program aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework, particularly supporting children to become confident and involved learners while strengthening their social and emotional wellbeing.
Growing minds explicitly links to the principles and practices of play based learning that:
- provides children with the ability for the expression of personality and uniqueness
- offers opportunities for multimodal play
- enhances thinking skills and lifelong learning
- fosters dispositions such as curiosity, persistence and creativity
- enables children to make connections between prior experiences and new learning and to transfer learning from one experience to another
- assists children to develop and build relationships and friendships
- develops knowledge acquisition and concepts in authentic contexts
- builds a sense of identity
- strengthens self-regulation, and physical and mental wellbeing

Testimonials
“Excited to implement some of the strategies.”
The Prep Readiness Presentation was well organised and well received by our community. The parents who attended the information session left informed and excited to implement some of the strategies shared on the night.
The Presentation aligns perfectly with our philosophy and ensures that a consistent message around Prep Readiness is delivered to our parents.
We look forward to booking this valuable presentation again next year and inviting even more parents and the wider community next time. Thank you Lasni!
